چکیده

Anthocyanins are an important group of highly hydrosoluble pigments in most species of plants. They are produced by secondary metabolism of plants (pentosophosphate, shikimate and flavonoid pathways) and are accumulated in cell vacuoles. In fruits and vegetables anthocyanins are present in the form of glycosides. The qualitative and quantitative determination of anthocyanins can be performed by classical techniques, such as spectrophotometry, or modern analytical methods, such as HPLC coupled with mass spectrometry detection, liquid chromatography, and thin-layer chromatography. Structural elucidation and conformational analysis can be performed by

A Review on Biosynthesis, Health Benefits and Extraction Methods of Fucoxanthin, Particular Marine Carotenoids in Algae

Fucoxanthin, an allenic carotenoid, is abundant in macro and microalgae as a component of the light-harvesting complex for photosynthesis and photo protection. This carotenoid has shown important pharmaceutical bioactivity, exerting antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, anti-photoaging, anti-angiogenic, and anti-metastatic effects on a variety of biological models. This caroten...

Application of Pseudomonas fluorescens to Blackberry under Field Conditions Improves Fruit Quality by Modifying Flavonoid Metabolism

Application of a plant growth promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR), Pseudomonas fluorescens N21.4, to roots of blackberries (Rubus sp.) is part of an optimised cultivation practice to improve yields and quality of fruit throughout the year in this important fruit crop. Blackberries are especially rich in flavonoids and therefore offer potential benefits for human health in prevention or amelioration...

Flavones: From Biosynthesis to Health Benefits

Flavones correspond to a flavonoid subgroup that is widely distributed in the plants, and which can be synthesized by different pathways, depending on whether they contain C- or O-glycosylation and hydroxylated B-ring. Flavones are emerging as very important specialized metabolites involved in plant signaling and defense, as well as key ingredients of the human diet, with significant health ben...

Whole-genome resequencing and transcriptomic analysis of genes regulating anthocyanin biosynthesis in black rice plants

Anthocyanins are involved in many diverse functions in rice, but their benefits have yet to be clearly demonstrated. Our objective in this study was to identify anthocyanin-related genes in black rice plants. We identified anthocyanin-related genes in black rice plants using a combination of whole-genome resequencing, RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), microarray experiments, and reverse-transcriptase p...
